Legitima Law Firm Attorneys Attend Specialized PHPU Training

From 23 to 26 October 2023, Febio Nesta and Zainal Abidin participated in a Technical Guidance Program (Bimbingan Teknis/Bimtek) for Advocates organized by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia. The program was held at the Pancasila and Constitutional Education Center in Bogor.

This training program was designed to enhance advocates’ understanding of proceedings before the Constitutional Court, particularly in relation to Election Result Dispute Cases (Perselisihan Hasil Pemilihan Umum/PHPU) in preparation for the 2024 General Elections.

Procedural Law and Handling of 2024 Election Result Disputes

Throughout the training, participants received comprehensive instruction on developments in PHPU procedural law and the mechanisms for resolving election result disputes before the Constitutional Court.

Topics covered included:

  • The latest regulations governing PHPU procedural law for the 2024 elections;
  • Procedures for handling PHPU cases;
  • Stages and timelines for resolving election result disputes;
  • Techniques for drafting petitions on behalf of applicants;
  • Preparation of statements and submissions for related parties in PHPU proceedings.

These materials were intended to strengthen advocates’ readiness to represent parties in election dispute proceedings in accordance with the applicable rules of the Constitutional Court.

Speakers from the Constitutional Court

The training featured distinguished speakers with extensive expertise in constitutional law and election dispute resolution.

Among the speakers were:

  • Dr. Wahiduddin Adams, S.H., M.H., Constitutional Justice;
  • Prof. Dr. Enny Nurbaningsih, S.H., M.Hum.

Through presentations and interactive discussions, participants gained insights into both the procedural and substantive aspects of handling PHPU cases before the Constitutional Court.

Practical Exercises and Participant Evaluation

In addition to classroom lectures, the program included practical sessions focused on drafting legal documents commonly used in PHPU proceedings.

During these exercises, participants practiced preparing petitions and other procedural documents relevant to election dispute litigation. Each stage of the training was accompanied by assessments designed to evaluate participants’ understanding of the materials presented.

At the conclusion of the program, the Constitutional Court also conducted an evaluation through questionnaires to measure participants’ knowledge development throughout the training.

Certification and Professional Development for Advocates

Upon completing the entire program, Febio Nesta and Zainal Abidin received certificates from the Constitutional Court recognizing their participation in the Technical Guidance Program for Advocates on Election Result Dispute Cases.

Participation in this program forms part of ongoing professional development efforts aimed at strengthening advocates’ expertise in election dispute resolution and Constitutional Court litigation procedures.
